A Great Egret hunting in a creek during the ice and snow of winter. The white snow highlights the lovely white plumage of the egret. During the Victorian Era the plumage on these birds were worth more than gold, and they were hunted to near extinction. Intervention changed the course of events for these large birds, and they now are thriving at healthy numbers again. Original image created by Master Captain Debbie Ritter.
